Does OSHA Apply to Your Practice?

OSHA covers most private-sector employers and employees in all 50 states — either directly through Federal OSHA or through an OSHA-approved state plan.

All employees fall under OSHA regulations. Sole practitioners are exempt, but every one of their employees is covered.

Physicians who are part of a Service Corp or C Corporation are considered employees and fall under OSHA regulations.

Bloodborne Pathogens training is required upon hire and every 12 months — including volunteers, per-diem, temporary, and contract workers with anticipated exposure.

All training must be documented, and most training records must be retained for at least 3 years.
